Northern Namibia

Twyfelfontein

Because it is possible to admire the oldest evidence from the past of Namibia in the form of rock carvings and rock engravings, UNESCO declared the site a World Heritage Site in 2007.

Thousands of rock artifacts - both rock art and rock carvings - from Middle Stone Age and Neolithic cultures, are among the oldest underground images in Africa. For millennia, this place was used for rituals, from about 4,000 BC. From the hunter-gatherers of Wilton culture, from the Khoikhoi for about 2500 years.
